The Midway boys and the Clinton girls claimed victories Tuesday in a 4 County Conference cross country meet at Midway. Pender and Heide Trask were the other participants.

The Raiders’ Michael McLamb finished first with a time of 18:36 on the 5 kilometer course. His teammate Alex Boggs took second in 19:21. Tim Balogh of Trask claimed 3rd, followed by Alex Bradley of Midway with a 19:34 performance. Rounding out the top 5 was Dylan Simpson of Trask.

Other Raider leaders included Ritchel Cousar, 10th, and Aaron Brown 11th. Leading the way for the Dark Horses was Freddy Bath. He finished 7th with a time of 20:35.

Midway’s point total was 28. Second place Trask scored 34, followed by Pender with 73, and Clinton with 103.

“Our guys continue their winning ways,” asserted Midway coach Heath Brewer, “though this year it appears as though we will have some competition with Trask. This gives us the incentive to work harder.”

In the women’s race, Clinton took 8 of the top 10 spots. Grace Reagan posted 25:15 for a first place finish. She was followed by Lily Turlington who ran for 26:36. Lady Raider Malia Sanchez was 3rd in 27:47. Clinton’s Anee Jaramillo, Reagan Barefoot, Alaina Capps, Emily Valenti, Sophie Miller, and Liz Summer claimed the next 6 positions. Midway’s Kimberly O’Brien finished 10th.

Clinton dominated the scoring with 18 points. Midway’s 55 was good enough for 2nd, while Pender scored 65 to take 3rd.

Next Tuesday Midway will travel to East Duplin and Clinton will visit Southwest Onslow.
