Crusaders split with East Duplin in volleyball

Harrells and East Duplin competed in volleyball, with the Crusader JV winning 2 of 3 sets, but the HCA varsity fell, 1 of 4.


The junior varsity Panthers took the first game, 22-25, but HCA powered back and won the next two games, 25-22; 25-23.


Crusader Harley Crumpler was leading scorer with 20/20 serves with 2 aces and 17 assists. Other top stats showed Mary Grace Norris: 6/6 in serves; 4 kills; 2 digs; Abigail Blanchard: 11 kills; 1 block; 3 digs; Sophie Campbell: 17/17 in serves with 2 aces; 11 assists; and Caitlin Miller: 12 kills; 2 blocks; 2 digs.


HCA’s JV record moves to 4-3.


In varsity action, the Panthers came away winners 23-25; 18-25; 25-21; 23-25.


Leading stats for Harrells showed Haylee Parks with 33 assists; Anna Huff: 10 kills; 8 blocks; Margaret Clark: 14 kills; and Christian Campbell: 7 blocks; 10 digs.


Harrells will play again on Monday when they host Clinton High.
