Wake Christian eased past Harrells, 22-27, to give the junior varsity Crusaders their first loss this football season.
The Crusaders went ahead the first quarter 8 to 6, but Wake Christian tied it up, 14-14, before the half as both teams scored again.
In the 3rd quarter, W.C. took the lead with a touchdown and and the extra point. HCA never gave up and put 8 more on the board in the fourth, but Wake also scored to keep the lead, 22-27.
Scoring for Harrells was Billy Prestage who rushed 4 times for 91 yards. Two of those carries were for touchdowns. Tyshon Newkirk 3-yard rush was for a TD as well. Corey Pruitt’s 2 carries were for two 2-point conversions.
Other Crusaders on the rushing stat were Will Huff with 11 carries for 64 yards and Rance Creech, 12-33.
Crusader quarterback Gray Fussell attempted 6 passes for 3 completions and 121 yards.
Creech caught 1 pass for 42 yards; Pruitt caught 1 for 42; Robert Malpass, 1-37; and Luke Davis, 1-42.
On defense, H. Batchelor had 7 tackles; Huff had 6 tackles, and Fussell, 5 tackles. Robert malpass had 3 tackles and 1 sack; Nolan Harrell, 1 sack; and Pruitt, 1 fumble recovery.
The junior varsity’s record moves to 1-1.
