Crusaders tumble to Village Christian

September 18, 2013

The Crusaders fell to Village Christian in soccer Tuesday with a score of 0-7. V.C. scored 2 in the first half and 5 goals in the second half.

Despite the loss, Harrells head coach Will Jones was pleased with the way his team played and cited a lack of depth on the HCA bench as one of the reasons for the shut-out.

“As a team we played the best game we have had so far. We are starting to move the ball better and mark up. The boys controlled most of the game today and we had double the shots in this game compared to our previous games, we just couldn’t find the net. We gave Village a tough game the first half and most of the second half we fell short due to not having enough bench depth, where as Village was subbing 3-5 at a time. Our boys never gave up and we continued to battle and push forward. We have a lot of potential and once we click it’s going to be fun to watch the boys develop,” Coach Jones stated.

Shots on goal for the Crusaders totaled 21 with Chris Cannady, Davis Jones, Gregg Bass, Cole Nye, Stancil Bowles, Spencer Cooke, and Christian McLaughlin all going to the net.

Shots against HCA total 12 in the first half and 13 in the second. Both teams had 4 corner shot attempts. Goalie Brenden Giles had 13 saves in the first period and 9 saves in the second half.

Today (Thursday) the Crusaders will travel to Fayetteville Christian.
