The town of Salemburg proudly paraded through the streets of Salemburg on Thursday, Oct. 24, for the Salemburg Elementary Fall Festival Parade. Students, teachers and local government officials put on a show as spectators filled the streets and watched the parade go by.
The excitement was palpable as the students lined up and the groups organized themselves. The parade, which started at 1:30 p.m., was led by a large American flag. Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies blocked off the roads to ensure the safety of those in the parade and other pedestrians.
Alina and Addi Avellaneda, both students, said that they were excited to be in the parade. Their mom, Karina Avellaneda, helped the kids put on their facepaint and face tattoos right before the start of the parade. Karina was just one of the many proud parents, grandparents and other family members who watched as the children walked through the downtown area Thursday.
