Continuing to dominate the 2A playoffs, the Dark Horses won a decisive 5-0 victory over the Currituck Knights. Clinton moves ahead to the third round and will go head-to-head at Darkness Stadium against Northeastern High School on Wednesday.
The scoring began 24 minutes into the first half when Eric Bradshaw found the back of the net.
Two back to back scores just eight minute later had Clinton up 3-0. Edwin Acosta scored the first goal and less than a minute later, Dark Horse Will Regan put the ball in the net.
Ivan Palencia then took the ball down field and slammed it past Currituck’s goalie to score a fourth goal to end the first half.
Eric Bradshaw hit the back of the net seven minutes into the second half and that would be the last score of the game.
“So far that was the best game we have played all year. It was very vocal and team oriented. We came out hungry and very focused” said Clinton’s head coach, Brad Spell.
For goals and assists, Eric Bradshaw had 2 goals, Edwin Acosta had 1 goal, Will Reagan had 1 goal, Ivan Palencia had 1 goal, Luis Aguilar had 3 assists, Adriel Coello had 1 assist, and last but not least Connor Bass had 1 assist.
Clinton’s record moves to 20-3-2. The Northeastern Eagles are from Elizabeth City and are ranked 11th in their conference with a 16-4-1 record.
