Actors hone lines during ‘Life’ rehearsals

Dr. Bruce Caldwell SCT

November 7, 2013

The weather is gradually getting cooler and the stage of the Sampson Community Theatre is keeping up with it as rehearsals for “It’s A Wonderful Life”and the town of Bedford Falls edge toward a cooler part of the year.

At a recent rehearsal Clarence (Gary Wilson), the Angel Second Class, has just pulled George Bailey (Nathan Carter) from the icy current of the river and George has made the statement that he wished he had never been born and Clarence, after consultation with his front office, tells George he has got his wish that he had never been born. George is instantly able to hear out of his right ear in which he has had poor hearing since childhood. Scenes such as this one abound in this musical version of this now popular show that makes you realize how much one person can impact many other people.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” will open on Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. for six performances. Tickets for this popular Christmas show are available at Matthews Gifts and at Inkspot. The show is sponsored by Jordan Shopping Plaza and Matthews Drugs and Gifts which indicates their willingness to promote the live arts in our community.

Thoughts until next week

• Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

• Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice.

• The person who angers you controls you.
