Cast gearing up for ‘Wonderful Life’ opening

The Sampson Community Theatere is a busy place these days as over 70 of your neighbors are gathering almost daily to go through the grueling aspects of rehearsals for the latest SCT production “It’s A Wonderful Life” since the show opens on Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. It is always interesting to watch the actors going over their lines when the person they are talking to has been tardy or is absent for the scene they are rehearsing. The experienced actors are not looking at the audience as they speak their lines but are looking at where the absent person should be on stage while the less experienced actors are looking offstage where the absent person’s lines are being read by someone offstage.

The cast is working hard and you can expect another inspiring live performance from this cast, whose ages range from 4 to 60 or so. You are invited to join us in the town of Bedford Falls and discover how wonderful life is in a small town.

Next week is Thanksgiving and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our audiences for attending our shows and all our sponsors who make the performances possible. We would also like to especially thank Jordan Shopping Plaza and Matthews Drugs and Gifts for sponsorship of this classic Christmas show opening at 8 p.m. on Dec. 6.

Kaitlyn Royal, the recently named “Outstanding Teen of Benson,” is collecting food for the Food Bank in Salemburg so we are asking everyone who comes to see “It’s A Wonderful Life” in early December to please bring a can of food with you. Kaitlyn will have a box in the lobby that you can place your food can in and she will deliver it to the Food Bank when the show is over. Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.

Our website is available at: www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org and we are on Facebook but if you visit us there, we ask that you “like” us while there.

Thoughts until next week:

• Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, set in the heart of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.

• We humans tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

• If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.
