January 14, 2014

Sampson County native Sunisha Norris, a senior at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, has once again been named to the university’s Dean’s List for the 2013 fall semester.

Norris’ drive for excellence and determination are the cornerstone for her success, family members said, noting that she should be extremely proud of her academic accomplishments.

The 2010 Lakewood High School graduate has made the Dean’s List four consecutive semesters and was recently inducted into the Psi Chi International Honor Society in psychology, where she qualified by earning 12 or more credits in psychology and maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher and meeting all the Constitution and statutes pertaining to membership.

Miss Norris has maintained a 3.4 GPA, exceeding the basic requirements for induction.

She is the daughter of Connie and William Parker of Hope Mills, Earnest Norris of Fayetteville and the granddaughter of Barbara Monk of Salemburg and Frank Arnette of Salemburg. In addition, Norris has two sisters, Selena and Tanika Owens of Fayetteville, a special great aunt, Lori Jean Sutton of Salemburg and godparents Arnold and Debra Monk of Salemburg and Carolyn and Dale Monk of Clinton.

Norris said she would like to thank all her family for their support, prayers, and constant moral and ethical mentorship, which she attributes to her success of achieving her goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. Her short-term goal, she said, was to obtain a full scholarship for her masters at A&T and a full scholarship to UNC-Chapel Hill for her doctorate.
