Bragging rights are up for grabs between Lakewood and Coharie country clubs this weekend. The first annual Sampson Cup competition will be held at Lakewood on Saturday and Sunday, Mar. 8 & 9, with tee time 10 a.m. both days. It will be in the Ryder Cup format, according to Lakewood’s golf pro and manager, Curt Pritchard.

Both teams have strong competitors and the course is in good shape, according to Pritchard, so the competition should be fun and exciting.

The match will consist of both individual and four ball formats. Each club will be represented by 16 players who get to use 100 percent of their handicap. The winning squad gets a trophy and bragging rights for one year.
