Clinton kept a blemish off their record with a 3-2 win over East Bladen Friday evening. It was another dominating performance by a Clinton pitcher, this time Johnathan Wright.
Wright pitched a complete game, striking out 9 batters, and walking only 1. He allowed 3 hits and both runs scored by East Bladen were unearned.
Jacob Taylor was the only Dark Horse mentioned in the offensive category, as he went 2-3 with an RBI.
“Our pitching continues to do everything we could hope for. Johnathan had some rough spots in tonight’s game where some things didn’t break his way, but he was tough enough mentally to come back from that and go out there and get this win for us,” said a pleased Tracy Thornton, Clinton’s head coach.
Clinton is off to a great start, as they are now 6-0 and 4-0 in conference. Perhaps the two best teams in the conference will face off Tuesday as Clinton travels to Spivey’s Corner to take on the red-hot Midway Raiders.
