Norris graduates Cum Laude

Sunisha Norris recently graduate Cum Laude from North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in child development and family studies.


Norris, a 2010 Lakewood High School graduate, said she believes her drive for excellence and determination are the cornerstone for her success and, she says, “you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.”


She has made the university’s dean’s list five consecutive semesters and graduate with a 3.4 GPA. She is a member of Psi Chi International Society in psychology, where she qualified by earning 12 or more credits in psychology and maintaining a 3.0 GPA or higher and meeting all the Constitution and statutes pertaining to membership.


Norris is the daughter of Connie and William Parker of Hope Mills, Earnest Norris of Fayetteville and the granddaughter of Barbara Monk of Salemburg. In addition, she has two sisters, Selena and Tanika Owens of Fayetteville, a special aunt, Lori Jean Sutton of Salemburg and godparents Arnold and Debra Monk of Salemburg and Carolyn and Dale Monk of Clinton.


She is currently working at Autism Society of NC in Greensboro where she works with children with disabilities.


Norris said she is very passionate about her job and believes she can make a difference with her role there.


She will be attending the University of Greensboro in the fall for her masters degree in mental health counseling. Her long-term goal, she said, is to obtain a full scholarship to UNC-Chapel Hill for her doctorate.


“I really would like to thank my family for their support, prayers and constant moral and ethical mentorship, all which I attribute to my success of achieving my goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. I would especially like to thank my grandfather, Frank Arnette, who instilled in me a strong work ethic and values. He always told me, ‘don’t take no wooden nickel.’”
