A ‘heartfelt’ thank you

Recently I returned home from surgery and a six month stay in Duke Hospital followed by two months in rehab. During this time many of you were praying for me and had your churches praying for me also. For that I will be forever grateful! I always believed in the power of prayer and now more so than ever!

Thank you too for your cards, phones calls, flowers, etc. Those all brightened many dark days for myself and my family.

To the community of Harrells: Thank you for the benefit you staged for three others and myself. Expenses add up when you are staying overnight or commuting to and from the hospital for so many months. That helped to defray those expenses.

I like to think of the importance of the three F’s; faith, family, and friends. I’ve been blessed with all three!

Gratefully,

Garland needs

Sheriff’s Dept.

I don’t know why anyone would have a problem with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department. I think others and myself know that they are doing a fine job here in Garland.

Since the Sheriff’s Department has taken over patrolling Garland, the drug problem has gone down tremendously. Before, I was even scared to walk down the street. Now I can do that and not be afraid. It feels good to be able to walk down the street and not have to worry.

My sister works at the Piggly Wiggly and they go in there every night with her while she closes, and that makes me feel a lot better, too.

Before the Sheriff’s Department came to Garland, that never happened.

The bottom line is this: Garland is a lot safer town due to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department.
