
The North Carolina State Grange held its annual state convention in Raleigh the weekend of Sept. 21-23. Local granges across the state selected and nominated individuals and businesses in their communities to be recognized for their valuable contributions. These individuals and businesses provided a report which included written and photographic information that shared their contribution and involvement in their communities.
Westbrook Grange nominated the following individuals and business for recognition of outstanding community service. They were selected as state winners and were recognized in Raleigh during the convention.
Karen Sinclair received the State Educator of the Year Award. She is the guidance counselor at Hobbton Middle School and has served as an educator in Sampson County Schools for 26 years. The grange is proud of Karen for her work and dedication as an educator and her concern for the well-being of the students of Sampson County, grange members said.
Emory Brown was presented the State Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. Emory is a North Carolina Highway patrolman from Troop B District 9 Master Troop and has served the Plainview community for 18 years. His recognition exemplifies his dedication and work for the safety of his community.
Also, the Grange Farm of the Year Award was given to John Hudson Farms Inc. of Newton Grove. This award is given to honor outstanding Granges and Grange members who have shown excellence in serving their community and the Grange. The activities of immediate family members were considered. John Hudson family members were recognized at the convention.
The North Carolina State Grange also recognized local granges for contributions to their communities. The Westbrook Grange received the following awards: Community Service Award, Grange Month — 2nd place, Government Affairs Recognition, Program Director Recognition, Labels for Education Recognition and recognition for have six new members. Congratulations Westbrook Grange.
Westbrook Grange and the North Carolina State Grange are proud to recognize and honor these deserving individuals and businesses for their dedication and excellence in serving their communities.
