Lakewood’s girls and junior varsity boys brought home wins Tuesday, but the Leopard boys just couldn’t find the bucket when Rosewood came to Salemburg on Tuesday.
For the Lady Leopards, Brittney Boykin’s hot hand gave them an easy win, with a final score of 63-48. Boykin scored 30 of those points.
Tasha Rich scored 13, sister Teisha had 8; Bianca Moore, 7; and Kiara Rich, 3.
“We jumped on them early,” head coach Lofton Kerr said after the game. “They are a young team, and Brittney Boykin was hot and we were able to play our game.
The JV boys came out on top of the Eagles 58-41.
Michael Graham scored 17 points and DeShaun Wilson was one point behind with 16. D.J. Rich had 11.
The varsity boys were on the losing end with a score of 67-39. Head coach Sylvester Pittman said his team was missing two key starters due to injuries.
“We were short-handed, but that’s no excuse for our lack of intensity. My hat is off to Rosewood. They played a good game,” he said.
J. Herring was top scorer for the Leopards with 8 points and Nick Butler was one point behind with 7.
The Leopards host North Duplin next Tuesday.
