TURKEY — Friday marked the final day for Sarah White as Turkey’s town clerk, and in her last official duty, she swore in new town clerk Teresa Frack. With her retirement, White completes 14 and half years of service to the town of Turkey, and Frack begins her journey with the town and community.

“I have truly enjoyed my work with the town,” stated White prior to the swearing-in ceremony. “I have really grown to love the people here and have learned so much while working with the various governmental agencies connected to what I did as clerk. I am sure I will miss many of these fine people.”

The retiring clerk is the first town clerk who has had to retire and receive benefits for time served in the town’s history.

There are others that White mentioned she will miss greatly as well.

“The town clerks across the county and area are a very special group. We have become a great resource for each other and a support group to each other also. When we get a chance, we enjoy spending time together just talking and our lives. Whenever we have something pop up that we do not know or understand we can call one another for assistance. It has really been a great benefit to us all over the years,” cited White.

As she departs her duties at Turkey, the retiring clerk made it very clear that she did not plan to sit at home and do nothing.

“I don’t know exactly what I am going to do. It was time for me to do something different and spend more time with my family. I am looking for new challenges in my life and I hope it will be doing something to help others which is something I love to do,” remarked White.

Frack stated that she would miss having White there to work along side.

“I have been acting as deputy clerk since November trying to get a handle on how things are done here in Turkey. I am very excited to be here and so look forward to a long tenure with the people of Turkey,” said the new clerk. “My biggest challenge is learning the community and the people which I have already started,” added Frack.

Frack has a great deal of experience in working as a clerk. She worked for 31 years in the clerk’s office in West Virginia and had previously worked as deputy clerk in Garland before coming to Turkey.

“I look forward to learning the people of Turkey. Those I have met and have dealt with since my coming in November have been good. The community and the people seem to be very special and love their town. I feel that I have found a home here and plan to be around for some time,” asserted Frack.

The new clerk will become Turkey’s town clerk officially on Jan. 2 as the office resumes services following the New Year’s holiday.

Frack lives in Clinton with her husband, Bill, and they have a grown daughter, Courtney.
