SCC offering keyboard classes at Garland Center

The Garland Senior Center reopened for 2013 on Jan. 2 and everything is up and running on schedule with new activities added for the year.

On Jan. 14, Sampson Community College will be providing an instructor for keyboards classes and basic computer skills classes. Keyboarding classes start on Jan. 14 and will be every Monday and Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. Basic Computer Skill Classes will begin on Jan. 15 and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11 p.m. Ida Parker will be the instructor. The center will celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday on Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come. The center will be closed in Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King and will reopen as scheduled on Jan. 22.

Richard Carr will provide exercise classes every Tuesday at 10 a.m..

Goshen Medical Center will be at the center providing checkups, screening and follow-up checks every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

The Carpenter Shop Family Ministry will be at the center every Thursday at 11 a.m., providing spiritual and physical food for people. All are welcome.

Senior Shuttle Shopping is the second and fourth Friday of the month to Clinton. You can pick up your groceries and medications. You can go to the bank and other places — just ask the driver. There is a $1 charge to ride the van. The van leaves the center at 8:45 a.m.
