Sampson sheriff’s investigators are looking into a weekend club shooting that left one man injured.

The report on the shooting was not filed until Thursday although the incident took place in the wee hours Sunday, Jan. 6.

In that incident, Kenneth Lawson, 23, of Shamrock Drive in Clinton, called officers to Hardees in Roseboro around 2 a.m., saying he’d been shot while at the Peter Rabbit Club on Willie Brown Road.

Officers responded to the eatery where they found Lawson, who, reports note, had been shot in the neck and buttocks.

The victim was unable to provide officers with any suspect information. He was transported to Sampson Regional Medical Center for treatment of his wounds.

Additional officers went to the backyard club, but were unable to locate any possible suspects in the shooting.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Sampson County Sheriff’s Department at 592-4141.
