A Clinton man found himself in trouble with law enforcement after an officer found him underneath a moped, reportedly extremely intoxicated.

The man, 35-year-old Pedro Modesto Billarreal of 4165 Reedsford Road, has been charged with driving while impaired and felony habitual DWI, following a series of calls that led a Clinton police officer to him.

Billarreal registered a .29 on the breathalyzer. He was jailed under a $22,000 bond and his court date was scheduled for March 14.

His arrest came on the heels of calls to E-911 in reference to an alleged drunk driving riding a moped on Railroad Street. The caller told dispatchers that the driver kept falling off the moped as he attempted to drive down Railroad.

An officer was dispatched to the area, but did not find the moped nor the driver.

The caller phoned E-911 again, reporting this time that the moped was at the Shell station at the corner of Southeast Boulevard and Railroad Street.

The officer went to that location but still did not find the moped or the driver.

Minutes later, reports show, the officer spotted the moped in the middle of Pine Street, Billarreal underneath it.

He was immediately taken into custody and charged with the drunk driving offenses.
