Hobbton student shares with others
Fernando Plata, a third-grader at Hobbton Elementary SChool, celebrated his ninth birthday back on October 22. For several years now, he has had a birthday project, rather than a traditional party. He chooses a charity and requests his party guests to bring items that can be donated to the charity, instead of gifts for himself. This year he chose the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina, located in Greenville. He knows, family members say, that he has been blessed with good health and that some children and families face sickness and problems each day. The youngster said he greatly appreciates all the love and support he received for making his birthday project a great success. (Courtesy photo)
