Teens face felony break-in charges

Two Sampson County teenagers are facing multiple felony charges after being arrested for a Jan. 21 break-in to property owned by a local business and then, once in custody, charged with several other offenses as well.

Andrew Oglesby, 17, of New Hope Church Road, Turkey, and Jonah Dell Pegues, 18, of Trevor Lane, Clinton, were first charged with felony breaking and entering; felony larceny; and felony possession of stolen goods.

The pair were arrested in connection with the Jan. 21 break-in of a trailer owned by Econo Oil and sitting on property owned by the business at 2427 Hobbton Hwy.

According to Sampson sheriff’s reports, Jason Williford, with Ecno, discovered the break-in on Jan. 28 and reported it to authorities. Taken in the break-in were multiple tools, pipe fittings and assorted parts, with a value over $5,000.

Capt. Eric Pope said Monday that through investigation it was determined that Oglesby and Pegues were responsible for the break-in and theft. Warrants were issued for the two Friday.

Both were placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under $15,000 bonds; however those bonds were raised to $40,000 each after the two were found to be suspects in an additional case.

Once in custody, and following additional investigation, it was determined that Oglesby and Pegues were also responsible for an earlier break-in to a Faison Highway hog farm owned by Gary Ward Parker. In that break-in, assorted items, including some guns, were stolen.

The two have been additionally charged with larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and another count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods.

Both Oglesby and Pegues remained in jail Monday afternoon.

They are to make their first appearance in District Court Feb. 15.
