A 20-year-old Sampson County man got more than hearts and flowers on Valentine’s Day — he was served with felony warrants, charging him with a December crime.

Terrance Lashawn Simmons became the third suspect arrested for a December breaking and entering, following an investigation by county investigators that led to the man being taken into custody.

Simmons, 20, of 235 Clive Jacobs Road, Clinton, was arrested on Valentine’s Day and charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods.

According to Sampson Sheriff’s Cpl. Marcus Smith, an investigation into a December 29 break-in at a Turkey Highway residence led officers to Simmons as a suspect.

In that break-in, suspects forced their way into the home and stole assorted items, including a dirt bike.

Two juveniles, both 15, were charged in connection with the case back in December.

“Our investigation also led us to Simmons,” Smith said, “and he was taken into custody without incident Thursday.”

Simmons was jailed under a $15,000 bond and made his first appearance in Sampson County District Court Friday.
