
The North Carolina Taekwondo Organization recently hosted a World Class Taekwondo Development Seminar with world class athletes, coaches and referees.
The TARCDP (Taekwondo-Athletes-Referees-Coaches) Development Program is held each January to develop participants to compete at the national level. The event featured World Champion and Olympian Master Patrice Remarck from Alexandria, Va. as the key facilitator. Master Remarck has also developed several Olympians and World Champions to include Olympians like African Sebastian Konan, World Champion and 2012 Olympian Daba Modibo Keita from Mali and the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Terrance Jennings from Alexandria, Va.
Also, participating in the seminar was Crystal Weekes from Staten Island, New York, who won the bronze medal at the 2012 Junior World Taekwondo Championships which were held in Sharm El Sheikh-Egypt.She also presented local Taekwondo instructor and president of the North Carolina Taekwondo Organization Master Ron Whitted with a giant autographed collage of pictures and coins from the various countries she participated in 2102. She won gold medals at the U.S. Presidents Cup in Georgia, Coasta Rica and Canada.
Other facilitators included Master Missy Cann from Havelock, NC and Director of the North Carolina AAU Taekwondo Program, Master Kevin Conroy from Staten Island, NY and coach of Crystal Weekes, and Master Jonathan Fleming from Waxhaw, NC. Additional World Class athletes participating included Master Phil Drake, 2012 gold medalist at the US National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships, Jessica Meyer, member of the All Army Taekwondo Team, Michael Coleman who gold at the 2010 US National Taekwondo Championships and Angelique Seymour who won silver and bronze medals at the 2012 U.S. Junior National Championships, both of whom was coached and trained by Whitted.
The North Carolina Taekwondo Organization is the official State Association to USA Taekwondo, Inc., the National Governing Body for Olympic Taekwondo. The 2013 USAT-North Carolina Taekwondo State Championships will be held in Greensboro, NC on April 27, 2013. The top 4 athletes per division will advance to the US National Taekwondo Championships which will be held from July 3-9, 2013 in Chicago Ill at McCormick Place. The North Carolina Taekwondo Organization also organizes several seminars and tournaments throughout the year to include, Poomsae (forms) seminars, the PowerAde State Games of North Carolina Taekwondo Championships and the North Carolina Open Taekwondo Championships.
