It was a close one, and the Lakewood JV almost pulled it out, but lost in Duplin County to rival James Kenan, 9-8 on Tuesday night.
“We made about 4 or 5 errors that really hurt us. The boys hit the ball good, but just made mistakes on defense. The team started dragging in the 6th inning, and we lost the game in the bottom of the 6th,” said a frustrated Leopard coach Jay Faircloth.
Willie Herring went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s, and Sidney Ivey was 3-4 with 2 RBI’s.
This was the Lakewood junior varsity’s first conference loss and their record moves to 4-1. They will host the Wildcat JV at 6:00 p.m. Friday.
