The Sampson Community College Foundation, with the help of a giving community, raised $20,000 as part of the annual SCC Phonathon, held March 15.

This year, Clinton Mayor Lew Starling and his wife Erika, added $10,000 to the campaign, a pledge made in honor 0f his parents, Donald and Annell Starling, and designated to provide scholarships for nursing students.

Another $10,000 was raised through donations across Sampson County, making it one of the best fund-raising phonathons in recent history, according to college officials.

All proceeds from the phonathon help fund grants, scholarships, programs and support services through SCC.

On this page are photos of some of the over 100 volunteers who helped make this year’s event a success, according to Lisa Turlington, executive director of the SCC Foundation.
