Making an impact

Local members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. spent a portion of their Friday evening making improvements to James L. Newkirk Memorial Park. The work took place prior to the organization’s 1908 Playground Impact Day, hosted by the Rho Omega Omega Chapter, which took place Saturday. Some of the tasks included planting flowers, painting benches and cleaning children’s equipment. The sorority members were assisted by the City of Clinton Parks and Recreation and the Newkirk Park Committee. The project was launched to ensure children have a safe and inviting places to play throughout the world. Through its Acts of Green Program, members promote environmental sustainability by encouraging recycling, litter prevention and waste management.
