Sampson Community College is encouraging students to begin or continue their educational journey at SCC this fall and is hosting the first admissions week in recent SCC history in an effort to facilitate the process for the 2016-17 year.
SCC officials said the college’s summer student headcount was up 80 percent from last summer to this summer, and the week was being looked at as a way to “continue recruitment efforts.”
“We are honored to host admissions week with the goal to ease the application process for prospective students to ensure they are ready to begin their educational journey at SCC this fall,” stated Holly Brewington, director of Admissions.
Admissions Week will run this coming week, from Monday, June 27, through Thursday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the SCC campus, located at 1801 Sunset Ave. in Clinton. Interested students are encouraged to visit student services, located within the North Building, to begin the admissions process.
“It is always important to do admissions early so students can make sure everything is in place to begin in the fall,” said Perry Gillespie, career specialist at Sampson Community College. “It allows students to check their status in admissions and financial aid.”
“Admissions week will ensure that prospective students have the opportunity to begin the admissions process and learn about financial aid opportunities,” added Blair Hairr, dean of Student Services. “After completing admissions, students will register for New Student Orientation. At orientation, students will be informed of the resources and opportunities offered to SCC students. Additionally, they will meet with a program advisor and register for fall courses.”
The priority deadline to complete admissions and financial aid is July 14.
“Although we will continue to admit students after July 14th, these students risk the chance of not have enough time to complete the admissions and financial aid process,” Hairr noted.
Prospective students are encouraged to stop by Sampson Community College, meet staff and faculty and begin the admissions process to be ready for fall classes. For more information about Sampson Community College, visit sampsoncc.edu or call 910-592-8081.
