For more than 20 years, the alumni and community around C.E. Perry School have been gathering as way of remembering the past and talking about the future.

The annual Charles E. Perry July Picnic is slated for Saturday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at the C.E. Perry Learning Center.

According to David Alexander, co-coordinator of the event, the picnic is a time for the alumni of the school, along with family and friends, to gather in once place and share stories and memories from the past and plans for the future.

“A lot of people have left the area and the picnic is a chance for them to come back, see their family and friends, and share their stories,” Alexander said. “The alumni take this time to meet with their former classmates and catch up on what is happening in their life.”

The event is open not only to the alumni of the school, but the entire community of Sampson County and the Roseboro area. Alexander said everyone should bring their tents, chairs, grill and food and enjoy the social time with fellow friends.

“We ask that everyone come and fellowship with old and new friends,” Alexander shared. “Once everyone gets there, and sets up their tents and food, everyone can walk around, share their food and stories with each other.”

Alcohol, Alexander said, is not permitted at the event or on the premises.

“Just bring your food, go around and socialize with everyone,” Alexander said. “It’s a great time to talk about the past.”
