Sampson County Sheriff’s authorities have taken out arrest warrants on a suspect after discovering $20,000 worth of items reported stolen in a series of local thefts.

On Thursday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on HB Lewis Road to take a report about a stolen van, according to information from Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith. A few hours after that report was given to deputies, the owner of the van contacted the Sheriff’s Office and said that the van had possibly been located on Pickle Shed Lane, Clinton.

Sheriff’s deputies and investigators responded to the location and confirmed the van was at 184 Pickle Shed Lane, Smith noted.

A search warrant was subsequently obtained and executed at that address, during which in excess of $20,000 worth of stolen property was recovered. The property included several electronic items reported stolen recently from JR Bradshaw Construction, Hope Valley Funeral Home, Faith Academy and a residence located in Timberlake, Smith said.

“This investigation is ongoing and investigators do have arrest warrants for a suspect, who at this time as not been located,” Smith said Friday afternoon, noting authorities hoped to make an arrest “soon.”
