A complete overhaul of the McDonald’s on Southeast Boulevard (U.S. 701) is ongoing. The new restaurant will be adorned with art that represents the community as part of a partnership with the Chamber of Commerce.

A brand new McDonald’s in Clinton will be christened with an artistic touch from the community thanks to a partnership between the franchisee and the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber is partnering with Hugh Caison and his Caison Enterprises Inc., which operates both the McDonald’s locations in Clinton, in putting on an original art contest in the community. The winner’s design will go up on a wall dedicated to Clinton and Sampson County in the brand new McDonald’s on Southeast Boulevard (U.S. 701 Business) currently being built in the same footprint as the one demolished earlier this month.

Caison, owner/operator of the McDonald’s locations on Sunset Avenue and Southeast Boulevard, as well as five other McDonald’s franchises in Sampson and Duplin counties, said the new iteration of the business is set to open its doors in November. The art will be a finishing touch to help ring in the establishment.

“The Chamber is honored to partner with Caison Enterprises and McDonald’s for this contest,” said Kaitlin Norris, executive director of the Chamber. “I think it is always great when business owners get the community involved. It is a great way to put a personal Sampson County touch to the business. I hope everyone will participate and let’s give tourists that visit that particular McDonald’s location a feel for our community.”

Deadline for submissions is Aug. 31. Art can be a drawing or a painting. Those submitting a painting are asked to submit a picture of that painting. Submissions must have a minimum resolution of 3000 x 1500 pixels.

The winner will be announced Sept. 9 and, as a prize, that person will win 52 Big Macs or their sandwich of choice (one a week) for the year

With less than a week to go before the deadline, Norris is encouraging all local artists and anybody else with interest in having their design immortalized within the new McDonald’s to enter. The images will go out to the 450 Chamber members, who will each send in their vote for the winner.

All art pieces must be submitted to [email protected] or mailed to the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 467, Clinton, N.C. 28328.
