Annual hunger run set for Saturday

The annual D-Feet Hunger Run will be held Saturday.

Everyday across America, families are going hungry. The Christian Food Bank of Salemburg is working to try and strike out hunger and the annual hunger run is just the way to do that.

The 2nd Annual D-Feet Hunger Run will be held this Saturday.

According to Allen West, one of the event’s organizers, there will be a 10K race, 5K race and 1 mile fun walk. The opening ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m., with registration available online. There will be live music and a playground for the kids.

Last year, West said, there was a little over 90 participants and event organizers are hoping for more this year. Because of the huge success of the event, West said it was decided to have again this year.

“We are holding this event in order to support the mission work of the Christian Food Bank of Salemburg which helps an average of 500 families per month,” West said. “We also hope that for those who are in need in our surrounding communities, will know that this mission is there to help. All this flows from the desire of a great group of volunteers to spread the love of Christ to those around us.”

Interested participants can register online at (search “hunger”) or at the race site on Saturday from 6:45-7:45 a.m. All proceeds from this event go to support the Christian Food Bank of Salemburg.
