An armed robbery at the Tropicana store on Warsaw Road left one injured and Clinton police seeking additional information about the incident.

At about 7:35 p.m. Monday, officers with the Clinton Police Department responded to a robbery in the parking lot of the Tropicana food store at 500 Warsaw Road. Two victims, Gustavic Miza, a 26-year-old male, and Jiluber Estrada, a 34-year-old male, told police that a black male approached them in the parking lot and pointed a firearm and demanded money.

A struggle ensued and the suspect struck Miza and then fled on foot.

Police said Miza received a minor injury from the assault, but refused medical treatment at the scene. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black T-shirt, camouflage-style pants and a black hat. Witnesses also reported seeing the suspect with a white female following the attempted robbery.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Clinton Police at 910-592-3105. Citizens may also provide information using the anonymous texting service, CPD TIP411 by texting “tipcpd” and the tip to 847411.
