A Fayetteville man is facing a felony charge for alleged improper involvement with a 13-year-old girl, according to Sampson County Sheriff’s officials.

George Edward Cousins, 69, of 1700 Pamalee Drive, has been charged with one felony count of indecent liberties with a child. Cousins was arrested on Feb. 20 and served the charge at the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sampson Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith said the felony charge in Sampson was the result of an investigation into information received from the Department of Social Services.

“A complaint was filed in regards to sexual misconduct involving a 13-year-old female victim,” Smith said. “As a result, investigators established enough probable cause to arrest the suspect in connection with the complaint.”

The initial complaint, Smith noted, dated back to the middle part of January 2017.

He said no further information could be provided.

Cousins was given $5,000 unsecured bond and a court date of Feb. 24.
