A Dunn man was arrested on multiple charges related to larceny after being wanted by the North Carolina Department of Corrections.

According to Sampson County Sheriff’s reports, William D. Barefoot, 27, of 623 OBJ Road, Dunn, was charged with one count of felony breaking and or entering; one count of felony larceny after breaking and entering; one count of felony possession of stolen goods/property; an one misdemeanor count of out of county probation violation.

“Our office received information that Dallas Barefoot was at a residence on OBJ Road and was wanted by the NC Department of Corrections,” Lt. Marcus Smith of the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said. “Officers went to the residence and located the suspect and took him into custody.”

Barefoot was arrested at his home and was later confined at the Sampson County Detention Center. His bond was set at $40,000 and was given a trial date of July 31.

According to Smith, the high bond amount was most likely a result of Barefoot’s violation of his parole conditions. According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Barefoot has prior convictions that date back to 2009 that include felony charges of larceny, burglary and breaking and entering and misdemeanor charges of possession of stolen goods, among several other convictions.
