High School Musical opens tonight

Rehearsals for High School Musical have finalized with the first show opening tonight.

Your Sampson Community Theater will be proudly presenting for your enjoyment this weekend the popular “High School Musical” with two separate casts who have been rehearsing for the past six weeks and who are now ready to display their talent for you on the big stage.

The relatively large cast of 26 in each cast means that 52 youngsters spent the better part of their summer vacations learning lines and lyrics and sweating it out during rehearsals in their complicated dances. This is their last free weekend before school starts next Monday and they are going to spend it doing what they love most by entertaining our audiences. You may want to consider getting your tickets now at Inkspot or Matthews Gifts because seats for all eight shows are going to be possible sellouts.

We wish to thank David Hobson, a local attorney, for volunteering to sponsor this production. This is the purest form of civic pride and we ask that you thank David for his generosity.

A memorial service will be held at the theater on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. for our dear departed friend, Board member and fellow thespian, Gary Wilson. The public is invited to attend as we pay our last respects to a fine gentleman.

Our website is available at: www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org and we are on Facebook but if you visit us there, we ask that you “like” us while there.

Thoughts until next week

Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they will never be disappointed.

Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you will help them become what they are capable of becoming.

We always pay dearly for chasing after what is cheap.
