A Clinton woman has been charged with felony drug offenses after a routine traffic stop yielded meth and some of the ingredients used to make it.

Kaelan Elizabeth Britt-Ausley, 26, of 5414 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of meth precursor chemicals and maintaining a vehicle for the storage of a controlled substance, all felonies. She also received a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Britt-Ausley was arrested on Friday, reportedly in the vicinity of the Hobbton Highway address, and transported to the Sampson County Detention Center.

According to reports, agents with the Sampson County Special Investigations Division conducted a traffic stop on Britt-Ausley’s 2007 Honda Accord on Hobbton Highway “for a headlamp that wasn’t working,” Sheriff’s Lt. Marcus Smith said Monday. “During a consent search, agents located a small amount of methamphetamine, lithium batteries, sulfuric acid and other items consistent with making meth.”

Britt-Ausley was taken into custody and subsequently placed under $40,000 secured bond.
