As a growing segment of the workforce, the criminal justice and law enforcement program at Sampson Community College continues to grow. The majority of students begin employment within Sampson, Duplin and surrounding counties.
As a strong contributor to educating and training the next workforce within the law enforcement field, SCC is excited to host a “Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Career Fair” on Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 5-7 p.m.
With the goal to assist SCC’s Criminal Justice and Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) students gain employment, this event is to share career opportunities available within the local region. Students that are also interested in the upcoming accelerated Basic Law Enforcement Academy that starts in January, and graduates in June, are also encouraged to attend to pick up an information packet and submit to reserve their seat for this highly demanded program.
“This is the first time the Criminal Justice and Basic Law Enforcement Training Program has offered a department/field specific job and career fair,” states Jennifer Wiley, Criminal Justice Department Chair and BLET Director. “While several career and job fairs have been held on campus over the years, that are all very helpful to students and the community, we look forward to providing a specific career fair for Criminal Justice & BLET students.”
According to Wiley, the college’s goal for this event is to host a wide representation from law enforcement agencies, state and federal criminal justice agencies, sheriff departments, private security businesses, investigation firms and other community programming that serve the courts readily available for immediate discussion about job and career opportunities.
“We encourage anyone interested in working or studying in criminal justice to attend,” Wiley said. “Specific to our students, as they graduate and begin to think about their career chapter, we want them to know of the opportunities available.”
At no charge for attendees or for an agency to set up a booth, all interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
