Today, community members will come together to help with “Victory for Victor.”
A fundraiser to help Victor Murray with medical expenses is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Corner Grill, 3858 Dunn Road, Eastover.
Sharon Moore, organizer for the event, said the purpose is to provide financial assistance for Murray, who is currently dealing with medical complications from a tumor in his brainstem. Moore said Murray is currently on a ventilator for treatment.
“Every since that, it’s been one thing after another,” Moore said about the teenager.
All proceeds from purchases will be donated to the #TeamVictor charitable fund for medical expenses.
“Our community is a community that pulls together and everyone knows each other,” Moore said. “It’s a sweet family and everyone wants to be there to support them.”
Dennis Cash, a musician with ties to Autryville and friend of the family, is one of many people showing support and volunteering for Murray and his family. During the event, Cash will assist patrons and visitors.
“Before his brain tumor, he was a very talented and active musician,” Cash said.
He was also a former Cape Fear High School wrestler and is currently receiving medical treatment in Charlotte.
Cash said the supporters are asking everyone to keep the families in their prayers.
“We are believing that God can and will provide a miracle,” Cash said. “That’s our ultimate goal right now.”
Donations are also being accepted through the mail and can be sent to 2129 Daniel Drive, Eastover, NC 28312. Make checks payable to: Team Victor Charitable Fund. A group to support Murray can be accessed on Facebook by typing #TeamVictor in the search bar. Currently, the group has more than 4,000 members.
“It’s wonderful to see people come together for a good cause,” Cash said.
