On the morning of Oct. 9, 2015 the North Carolina Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) held a Walk-a-thon involving all of the cadets in the Academy.

Each TCA class gives a percent of the money they collect to the American Red Cross and other charities. The other charities for Class 45 include the Shriner’s Children Hospital and Samaritan’s Purse. On Nov. 6, Class 45 presented a $500 check to Phil Harris, Executive Director for the Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross. Cadet Michael Harris, the Cadet Advisory Board (CAB) Chairman presented the check on behalf of the Class. Harris told the cadets how much it was appreciated and how the Red Cross helps in the aftermath of disasters such as home fires and storms, as well as helping soldiers and their families.
