Christmas play enters final weekend

The cast of the Best Christmas Pageant Ever will perform the show’s final weekend starting tonight.

Cast B of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” has the big stage of the Sampson Community Theater all to themselves this week as they prepare for their opening night on Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. with other performances scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m.

Cast B is identified by having more adults in the adult roles but the Herdman kids will still be their obnoxious selves and still be ignorant about the meaning of Christmas until they become educated. All of our audiences were glad they saw this classic because it does make Christmas have a different and strong meaning so if you haven’t seen it plan to attend one or more of this weekend shows. Matthews Gifts and Jordan Shopping Plaza are the proud sponsors of this Christmas show and we thank them for helping to keep the live arts alive in our county.

Although it is a week until Thanksgiving the lobby and concession area is looking a lot like Christmas thanks to the decorations by Bettie Williams who used her extensive collection of ornaments to adorn a large tree in the lobby as well as the shelves in the concession area as well as the snowflakes around the lobby lights. Thanks Bettie for a beautiful job.

Since “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is the last show of our 2015 season it’s time to become a new patron sponsor or renew your patron sponsor tickets for our 2016 season. A patron sponsor ticket allows two people to attend all of our shows at a reduced rate and also get the name of the patron or business in all our programs. You may purchase your 2016 patron sponsor tickets by contacting any Board member or they will be available in November at the theater during our next show. Our proposed 2016 shows are listed below.

Dr. L.J. Carr, the director of “Little Women” will hold auditions on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. She needs some strong male and female singers for this show which will open in February 2016.

Our website is available at: www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org and we are on Facebook but if you visit us there, we ask that you “like” us while there.

Thoughts Until Next Week:

Even though we’re a week from Thanksgiving, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

It is now common knowledge that the average American gains 7 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

Thanksgiving dinners take 18 hours to prepare. They are consumed in 12 minutes. Half-times take 12 minutes. This is not coincidence.
