Theater prepares for next season

It’s hard to say who had the most fun during the eight performance run of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at the Sampson Community Theater over the past two weekends, the two casts or the applauding audiences.

The final scene ended Sunday afternoon as Imogene Herdman (Emma Hobson) playing the part of Mary was kneeling by the manger with baby Jesus in her arms and the Herdman siblings were heard to say “Look Mary is crying” and so she was and so was at least half the audience.

We wish to thank the director Angela Martin, every actor, our sponsors Matthews Gifts and Jordan Shopping Plaza. our wonderful audiences, the lobby decorations by Bettie Williams and all the backstage and Green Room workers for a job well done. Now relax and have a great Thanksgiving this week.

Auditions for “Little Women” will be held Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Actors needed for this show include strong singers for the parts of Professor Bhaer, Jo, Amy, Meg, Beth, Marmee, Laurie and Aunt March. The ensemble and chorus needs couples for the Waltz dance scene, beachcombers, ice skaters, and Operatic Tragedy players. Will be rehearsing in evenings, weekends and over Christmas break. Need committed individuals that are dedicated to this production. Performance dates are Feb. 5-14, 2016.

Since “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” is the last show of our 2015 season it’s time to become a new Patron Sponsor or renew your Patron Sponsor tickets for our 2016 season. A Patron Sponsor ticket allows two people to attend all of our shows at a reduced rate and also get the name of the patron or business in all our programs. You may purchase your 2016 Patron Sponsor tickets by contacting any Board member. Our proposed 2016 shows are listed below.

Thoughts Until Next Week

You know that just before that first Thanksgiving dinner there was one wise, old Native American woman saying, “Don’t feed them. If you feed them, they’ll never leave.”

May your stuffing be tasty

May your turkey plump,

May your potatoes and gravy

Have nary a lump.

May your yams be delicious

And your pies take the prize,

And may your Thanksgiving dinner

Stay off your thighs!
