On Oct. 9, the cadets of Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) held their class Walkathon fundraising event.

Each class donates a percentage of the money to charitable organizations. Class 45 chose Shriners Hospitals for Children, Samaritan’s Purse, and the American Red Cross.

On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Cadet Advisory Board Chairman, Michael Harris, presented a check for $500 to Gary Wayne Hall, representative for the Shriners. Hall thanked the cadets and explained how the money would help children at the Shriners Hospitals for Children receive care for free. It could be anything from a serious burn to the need of prosthetics. The money donated helps cover the cost of surgery and recovery for children.
