Sampson Regional Medical Center is hosting a nursing job fair on Dec. 16, from 3-6 p.m., where prospective employees will have an opportunity to apply and interview for positions on the spot.
Registered nurses are currently being sought for positions in the emergency department, operating room and PACU, medical and post-surgical unit, and obstetrics/labor and delivery.
Like many hospitals, Sampson Regional Medical Center is experiencing vacancy rates greater than the normal fill time, specifically on the medical and post-surgical unit. The need for nurses is also due to hospital growth, according to Mike Gilpin, Vice President for Human Resources.
“Our emergency department is expanding to add nine new beds that will help reduce wait times for our patients. We’re recruiting registered nurses in preparation for this growth,” he explained.
During the past seven months, the hospital has also added three new surgeons to its medical staff, thus the need for registered operating room nurses.
Members of the nursing management team and Human Resources Department will be available at the career fair to meet with job seekers. Those attending are encouraged to have resumes and references on hand. In addition to beginning the application and interview process, applicants will enjoy refreshments and receive some SRMC swag as a token of appreciation.
“We are seeking caring and compassionate nurses—both experienced and new graduates—who have a passion for quality healthcare,” said Gilpin.
