Winners of gingerbread houses announced


Best in Show and People’s Choice Award winner was Midway High School Foods & Art Class which is on display at Sessom’s Jewelry.


The Sampson Arts Council has announced the winners of the 2015 Gingerbread House Contest.

There were a total of 15 entries. Midway High School Foods and Art Class received Best in Show and People’s Choice award with their creation. Best in Show received $50 and First Place in each age category received $25. All entries received ribbons. Ashley Melendrez and her Midway High School Foods classes also baked 200 gingerbread men for the Christmas in the City gingerbread decorating activity. Visit the businesses in downtown Clinton throughout the holidays to view the gingerbread houses on display.

1st place (Child 5-9) – Conner Strouth – age 5 – on display at Burney’s

2nd place (Child 5-9) – Tanner Thompson – age 5 – on display at Rebecca’s

3rd Place (Child 5-9) –Peyton Smith – age 9 – on display at Abbigail’s

Honorable Mention (Child 5-9) – Will Blackman – age 7 – on display at the Victor R. Small House

Honorable Mention (Child 5-9) – Ashton Kelly – Age 9 – on display at the Victor R. Small House

Honorable Mention (Child 5-9) – Preston Smith – Age 7 – on display at the Victor R. Small House

1st place (Youth 10-14) – Josie Blackman – age 10 – on display at Vance St. Market Flower Shop/Simply NC

2nd Place (Youth 10-14) – Emmanuel Howell – age 14 – on display at the Victor R. Small House

1st Place (Youth II 15-18) – Jasmine Pope & MiKayla Bryant – Age 15 – on display at Professional Eyecare of Clinton

2nd Place (Youth II 15-18) – Brittney Knowles and Natalie Smith – Age 15 – on display at the Victor R. Small House

1st place (Adult 19+) – Erin Thompson – on display at Alfredo’s

2nd Place (Adult 19+) – LeAnn Honeycutt, Elizabeth Kennedy and Whitney Dunn – on display at the Victor R. Small House

3rd Place (Adult 19+) – Colton and Melissa Strouth – on display at Royal Gifts and Fine China
