Community theaters closes out season

By Bruce Caldwell - Contributing columnist

We hope everyone has a great Christmas and it will be great if we only remember the reason for the season.

The magic has left the stage of the Sampson Community Theater but the music will remain until after Christmas because it was presented to our audiences over three days last weekend. Many of our favorite holiday songs were highlighted by Taylor and Vicki Michael as they entertained us with comedy, music and magic for about two hours that went by quickly.

All in all, this was a well performed vaudeville act that made us feel like we were on the strip in Las Vegas without the cocktails and slot machines. Many thanks to the performers who were very talented and professional and to everyone who forewent the latest Star Wars movie to enjoy some live entertainment.

Currently ongoing at SCT are rehearsals for “Little Women” where L. J. Carr has double cast this musical with the two casts numbering around forty performers. Rehearsals will continue over the holidays which goes to show the dedication needed to be a cast member and you can expect perfection when the show opens in February 2016. The set is being built by a group of dedicated volunteers. A big “Thank You” to each and everyone of you.

It’s time to become a new Patron Sponsor or renew your Patron Sponsor tickets for our 2016 season. A Patron Sponsor ticket allows two people to attend all of our shows at a reduced rate and also get the name of the patrons or business in all our programs. You may purchase your 2016 Patron Sponsor tickets by contacting any Board member. Our proposed 2016 shows are listed below.
