Rehearsals for Little Women is ongoing at the local theater.

Blake Bellanger, a 9th grade student at Clinton High School, is taking on the task of renovating our greenroom at the Sampson Community theater.

Blake is a devoted Boy Scout and his project for earning his Eagle Scout award is by helping to support our theater. He is hosting a Sampson County Spotlight Talent Showcase which takes place Saturday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Sampson Community theater.

All proceeds will be used to help renovate our greenroom. This ambitious project was designed, developed and organized by Blake. He was a featured dancer in our recent production of Disney’s High School Musical and is a member of the Performing Arts School Dance Teams under the direction of Suzi Faircloth Matthews.

Blake is also a member of Angela’s Musical Troup under the direction of Angela Martin. The event will feature dancers, singers and performers throughout our county with the Master of Ceremonies being the talented Bruce Creech. We are thankful for this innovative idea to help improve our Greenroom and we are excited to see Blake’s idea become a reality. Tickets will be available at the SCT box office at 6pm on Saturday, Jan. 9, the day of the performance. We hope to see you there to not only support Blake and his endeavors but to also support the talented people of Sampson County who will be performing.

Currently ongoing at SCT are rehearsals for “Little Women” where L.J. Carr has double casted this musical with the two casts numbering around forty performers. Rehearsals will continue over the month of January which goes to show the dedication needed to be a cast member and you can expect ,perfection when the show opens on Feb. 5, 2016. The set is being built by a group of dedicated volunteers. A big “Thank You” to each and everyone of you.

It’s time to become a new Patron Sponsor or renew your Patron Sponsor tickets for our 2016 season. A Patron Sponsor ticket allows two people to attend all of our shows at a reduced rate and also get the name of the patrons or business in all our programs. You may purchase your 2016 Patron Sponsor tickets by contacting any Board member. Our proposed 2016 shows are listed below.

Thoughts until next week

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

If a problem can be solved, there is no need to worry about it. If a problem can’t be solved, there is no need to worry about it.

Expect people to be better than they are; it helps them to become better. But don’t be disappointed when they are not; it helps them to keep trying.
