Area churches hosting history celebrations

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. regular preaching service will be held on tonight at Holly Grove Holiness Church, on 1519 Indian Town Road, Clinton. The guest speaker is pastor Mike Jacob of East Carolina Church. The praise and worship team will render the music.

The New Church of Christ, Faison, will observe The Prophets Are Here Service. On Feb. 17-19 at 7 p.m. Prophetess Dr. Evelena Oliver, Warsaw. On Feb. 24-26 Prophet Bishop Michael Norris, Raleigh. FMI call Assistant Pastor Yolanda Bennett at 260-2348.

On Thursday, Feb. 18-25 at 6 p.m., the Healthy Congregation Workshop will be held by the Rev. Thomas Farrow Jr. at Lisbon St. Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton. Inviting all churches to attend.

On Saturday, Feb. 20, from 11 a.m – 1 p.m., the Friendly Trio and Church Association will distribute food bags at the Friendly Community Center in Clinton. All are welcome. FMI call brother Charles Strickland at 910-590-4925.

On Saturday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m., the pastor, Dr. Louis Hackett and First Lady, the Rev. Jeanette Hackett of Garland First Baptist Church, will celebrate their 10th year anniversary with a banquet, sponsored by the Pastor Support Committee and the church. On Saturday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m., come celebrate with us during our Praise Explosion. On the program, we will have several praise and worship leaders, praise dance, flag and mime ministries, from area churches.

On Saturday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m., Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 2316 Maxwell Rd. Autryville, will present it’s Annual Black History Program. The guest speaker will be Mr. Harry Hill of Dudley. Black History artifacts will be displayed and a soul food meal will be served.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m., Big Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton, will celebrate their Black History Month. The guest speaker, the Rev. Marvin T. Clowney of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, will minister the word, and the adult choir will render the music.Dinner will be served following the morning service. We are inviting everyone to come and worship with us.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 10:45 a.m., Appreciation Service for pastor Bishop Varnie and Elder Idella Fullwood will be held during morning worship service, at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton. The guest speaker will be pastor Eric Underwood of Shoulders Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Castle Haynes. The Mt. Pleasant mass choir will render the music.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., the Annual Black History program will be observed at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Turkey. The pastor, the Rev. Tommy Jones will minister the word and the youth choir will render the music. Various of activities will be on the program. An old fashion dinner will be served immediately following the morning service.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., the Annual Black History program will be held at First Missionary Baptist Church, Kenansville. An old fashion dinner will be served following the service.

Jeremy Jones, will minister the word and the mass choir will render the music. Immediately following service an old fashion pot luck lunch will be served. Wendell Newton, will minister the word and the senior choir will render the music. There will be several activities on the program. An old fashion dinner will be served immediately following the morning service.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., regular morning service will be held at Snow Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Roseboro. Pastor, Dr. S.E. Bryant will minister the word and the adult choir will render the music. A soul food dinner will be served immediately following the service. At 3 p.m., they will observe their Black History program in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They will present a play, and have a various of activities on the program.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., the Annual Black History program will be held at Brown’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton. They will have a various of activities on the program.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., Home Mission Silver Tea will be held at Point Level Disciples of Christ Church. Charity Disciples Church is the guest.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m., the Annual Black History service will be observed at the Friendly Community Center, Clinton. Our theme is: “Free At Last.” Brother McNeil is in charge of Praise and Worship. A skit will be presented, and various of activities will be on the program. The musical guests are: The Light House Singers and The Corner Stones and many more.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m., annual Martin Luther King Jr. service will be held at Union Grove Disciples of Christ Church, Clinton. The guest speaker/president is the Rev. Marvin T. Clowney of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, Clinton.

On Feb. 27, at 6 p.m., a Red and White program will be held at Piney Green Disciples Church, Newton Grove. The guest speaker will be Minister Sandra James and Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church choir will render the music.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m., Point Level Disciples of Christ Church, will observed their Black History program featuring African Attire. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Letaz S. Jones Sr. of Strickland Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Four Oaks.
