Union Intermediate School celebrated World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, Feb. 24. World Read Aloud Day calls global attention to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories.

Business partners from Smithfield Hog Production Division, Mark Hairr and Jerry Hairr shared a story with students at Union Intermediate. They also brought goody bags for our teachers full of school supplies.

Several UIS students read aloud to Union Elementary Schools kindergarten classes via Skype.

The school had more readers lined up and Skype sessions scheduled with authors Gail Donovan, Darlene Beck Jacobson, and Rosanne Perry, but severe weather forced an early dismissal. The author sessions have been rescheduled for a later date.
