‘Pictures’ to debut next weekend

There is but one week before “I Ought To Be In Pictures” will debut in Sampson County when the curtains part on the big stage of the Sampson Community Theater.

Many plays written by Neil Simon have graced the stages of the county but this is the first time this particular show has ever been offered to our residents and play lovers. This is surprising because the show was popular enough that a movie was made after its run as a comedy-drama on Broadway was over and it is full of wit as well as serious situations.

There have been roadblocks during rehearsals like when one cast member had to miss several evenings of rehearsals when a close relative in another state had a medical emergency. That crisis is over and a full cast will rehearse daily until opening at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8. The Florist and Antiques of Warsaw is sponsoring this production and we thank them for their support of the live arts.

All patrons are asked to mark your calendar for the Patron Appreciation Event Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m. where all valid patrons will be freely entertained with a Las Vegas type show which will be taped to submit as an audition tape for potential entertainment on a cruise ship over the summer by Taylor Michaels and which will be a mix of music and magic.

Get ready for the auditions for “Cats” on Sunday April, 24, at 2 p.m. and Tuesda, April 26, at 6 p.m. Needed are college age and teenage singers and dancers with only minor roles for children.

Patron sponsor tickets are available by calling Brenda Martin at 990-4510. These tickets allow 2 people to attend every show we produce and get their names included in every program at a reduced rate .

Thoughts until next week:

Read the entire recipe before you start cooling.

Most things are better after a good night of sleep.

Don’t save your nice dishes, nice clothes. nice shoes for a special occasion. Every day you’re alive is a special occasion, so use the good stuff.
