The Association for Home & Hospice Care of NC (AHHC) presented its 2015 HOME (Honoring Outstanding Merit & Excellence) Awards at their 43rd Annual Conference & Expo.

These awards recognize the excellence of individuals who are dedicated to promoting healing, extending life, and alleviating pain and suffering, all the while keeping families together and providing the greatest degree of freedom, independence, and dignity possible. These are the true heroes in home care, home health and hospice, who serve on the front line every day, encountering numerous challenges often with a smile on their face and a fierce determination to persevere on behalf of their patients.

The Awards were presented by AHHC’s President and CEO, Tim Rogers. The following award recipients were nominated by Jean Whitfield of 3HC in Goldsboro, NC and were chosen as winners.

Agency Support Personnel of the Year: Wanda Smiley, Volunteer Coordinator, 3HC

The Agency Support Personnel Award honors staff members that work in a non-clinical role in the areas of Management Information Systems, Quality Improvement, Finance, Program Management, Marketing, or Human Resources. This year’s winner of the Agency Support Person of the Year Award is Wanda Smiley, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator for 3HC, and she was nominated by Jean Whitfield.

Paraprofessional of the Year: Sandra Davis, Physical Therapy Assistant, 3HC

The Paraprofessional of the Year Award honors paraprofessionals, such as Habilitation Technicians, Physical Therapy Assistants, and Licensed Practical Nurses, within the home care & hospice industry who have demonstrated excellence and commitment to patient care. AHHC’s 2015 Paraprofessional of the Year is Sandra Davis, Physical Therapy Assistant for 3HC.

Volunteer of the Year: Terry Doyle, Hospice Volunteer, 3HC

Volunteers are often the heart and soul of any organization. That is especially true of hospice volunteers. The 2015 Volunteer of the Year Recipient is Terry Doyle, who has served as Direct Patient Care Volunteer at 3HC for three years.

Nominees for the HOME Awards are submitted annually and AHHC’s PR Committee has the important task of selecting the winners each year. The Awards are presented each year at the Association for Home & Hospice Care’s Annual Conference & Expo. Congratulations to all the nominees and to this year’s Award Recipients! “Each of these individuals do an outstanding job each day, and we are proud that their dedication is being recognized as the best in North Carolina”, stated Dean Lee, President and CEO of 3HC.
